Removing kitchen tile

Removal of the kitchen tile is one of the first demolition activities we can do ourselves, so yesterday we chipped up a bunch of it. Under it we found some ancient linoleum, and under that is the original oak flooring. Unfortunately it looks like it's rotted quite a bit, and will need to be replaced. Boo.

Removing ivy from front of house

We found out that ivy is okay if it's growing on something impervious like a chimney, but NOT okay if it's growing on something like cedar shingles, so we tore a bunch of it off, which was a lot of fun!

first pictures of the house

This is the house we just bought. After we close on it in a month, we are going to begin renovating it, which will probably take 4 or 5 months. These pictures should give you some idea of the condition the place is currently in, and will ideally dramatically contrast with its future splendor. Actually many parts of the house are in remarkably good condition, for example the shiplap cielings and wood floors. We just need to do some repositioning of elements (and addition of some square footage) so that the place is more light, open and usable.
